After studying at the University of Genoa in Italy, Alessandro Siria earned his PhD in physics at the Institut Néel in 2009. In 2011, he joined the CNRS as a research fellow at the Institut Lumière Matière in Lyon. In January 2015, Alessandro Siria joined the Laboratory of Static Physics at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris where he created with Lydéric Bocquet the Micromégas Team.
His research is at the interface between several fields: solid state physics, nanoscience and soft matter. He develops unique experimental systems for the purpose of studying physics at the nanoscale. After being trained in the precise measurement of surface forces, he is now interested in the more fundamental aspects of soft matter.
